Continuous Improvement, Not Just Average
At Metalcolor, energy efficiency is a constant focus of our production strategy – after all we work by the Kaizen mindset. We see it not only as an environmental responsibility but also as a driver of quality, stability, and long-term competitiveness.
What Metalcolor has done so far:
- Process Optimization: We implemented a double coating system on our larger coating line, reducing the consumption of gas and electricity significantly. A more efficient set-up of the furnace and the reduced production time needed through this implementation, enabled us to achieve these reductions.
- Heat Recovery Systems: In 2018 we installed a regenerative oxydiser with a heat recovery system, enabling us to eliminate oil and propane heating at our plant. Furthermore, we use the heat occurring through the solvent combustion, to heat our facilities.
- Lighting and Building Efficiency: We have replaced conventional lighting with LED systems and introduced intelligent controls in our facilities.
- Monitoring and control: We continuously improve our monitoring systems. Enabling us to improve the control over our processes and make adjustments.

Measurable Progress
Since 2017 these measures have led to:
- A reduction of 28.7% in gas consumption
- Less dependency on the electricity network, we are 33% auto-sufficient through solar panels

How It Fits Into Our CO2 Neutrality Goal
Our new coating line, equipped with an efficient oven of the newest generation, enables us to consume less gas and electricity, while reducing the production time of two-layer products.
Planned improvements in production equipment will also enable further significant reductions in gas consumption.
A new heat exchanger will also make it possible, starting I winter 2026, to eliminate gas consumption for heating the premises and for process heat requirements.
Moreover, we are constantly improving our efficiency in raw material usage and continuously seeking to reduce our waste.
We reuse and recycle whenever possible.
Energy management
ISO 50001 certification is evidence of our efficient energy management: reducing CO₂ emissions and our energy consumption.
